Every drive tells a story —
and a tax write-off.

DriveDNA quietly logs every trip from your iPhone. No dongle. No dashboard. Just personal records, a clean drive journal, and an IRS-ready mileage log when April comes around.

Coming soon to the App Store. Built for iOS 26+.

What it does

Auto trip logging

CoreMotion + Significant-Location-Change start drives without you. GPS only runs while you're moving — light on the battery.

Personal records

Longest trip, fastest commute, longest streak. A celebratory card when you beat one. Strava, but for the road.

Drive journal

Each trip stored with a polyline, addresses, distance, duration. Add a quick note — "client meeting", "doctor".

Widgets & Live Activities

Today's drive, current streak, this month's miles. Lock Screen, Home Screen, StandBy, CarPlay.

CarPlay surface

Glance-first, voice-first. Quick-categorize Business or Personal mid-drive. No forms. No AI nonsense.

Monthly recap

Spotify-Wrapped energy for your drives. Shareable card with route, stats, and brand watermark.

The headline Pro feature

An IRS-ready mileage log,
without the spreadsheet.

Every trip is one tap away from a category — Business, Personal, Commute, Medical, Charity. Add a purpose. At year end, export a CSV your tax software already knows how to read.

  • Schedule C-style categories
  • Bulk-categorize by route ("all of these are commutes")
  • CSV export: date, addresses, miles, duration, vehicle, category, purpose
  • Per-vehicle yearly totals — handy for low-mileage insurance discounts
  • PDF report shipping in v1.1

Privacy by design

On-device, first

Every coordinate, every polyline, every note lives on your iPhone. No backend ever sees your route.

iCloud, optional

Sync across devices via Apple's CloudKit when you want it. End-to-end inside Apple's pipe — no third-party server.

No AI, no LLMs

We don't pipe your drives to a model. The "absence of AI" is a feature here, not a roadmap gap.

FAQ

Do I need an OBD2 dongle?

No. DriveDNA uses iPhone GPS and CoreMotion. It works alongside scanners like Car Scanner ELM if you already use one.

Will this drain my battery?

We default to Significant-Location-Change to wake the app, then run foreground GPS only while the drive is active.

Is it a navigation app?

No. Keep using Google Maps, Waze, or Apple Maps. DriveDNA sits quietly above them and journals what you drove.

Who is it for?

Daily commuters, road-trippers, and self-employed drivers who want a clean mileage log without the B2B feel.

Android?

No plans. iOS-first, built around Live Activities, widgets, and CarPlay.

What ships in v1.0?

Auto-tracking, vehicles, categories, records, monthly recap, CSV export, widgets, Live Activity, CarPlay, iCloud sync.
